Anita Donner designs first “Barbie Diwali“

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting cultural heritage, Barbie introduces its first Barbie Diwali doll, created in collaboration with world-renowned Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre.

The Barbie Diwali doll commemorates one of India's most popular festivals, Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, where light triumphs over darkness.

When designing Barbie, Anita Dongre took care to combine modern aesthetics with tradition.

The Barbie Diwali doll wears a Moonlight Bloom set with a choli top, a flowered koti vest and a lehenga skirt decorated with dahlias, jasmine and Indian lotus - symbols of strength and beauty. Golden bangles and shimmering earrings complete the look and reflect the bright lights of the festival.

Lalit Agarwal, Country Manager, Mattel India said, “With Barbie, we want to reflect the stories that young girls see in the world around them and we are honored to collaborate with renowned Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre to create a doll that supports this mission. Barbie is thrilled to showcase India's vibrant cultural heritage on a global stage while celebrating the power and beauty of diversity.”
