Learning Factory 4.0 as an innovation accelerator in Melbourne
In order to promote a culture of experimentation and accelerate innovation, Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud computing company of the Amazon Group, has opened a "Builder Studio" in the center of the Australian metropolis of Melbourne. The focus is on the use of innovative technologies such as digital twins to develop new products and optimize processes. The demonstration and learning tools also include a fischertechnik Learning Factory 4.0.
Tackling innovations
Many companies are faced with the task of tackling innovations, developing new products and optimizing their processes. This requires investments that many company managers shy away from. This is why methods and facilities are needed that are less capital-intensive and thus reduce the risk of bad investments. "Companies want to implement innovations, but often don't know how to go about it. The Builder Studio is the ideal place to develop solutions," says Adrian de Luca, Director Cloud Acceleration for the Asia-Pacific region at Amazon AWS.
Special workshop area for developers and engineers
The 350 square meter AWS Builder Studio has a special workshop area for developers and engineers, where they can work on complex electronic projects such as customer-specific Internet of Things (IoT) controllers and industrial interfaces and design and assemble their prototypes on site. The equipment used there also includes a fischertechnik Industrial Learning Factory 4.0. "This allows logistical and production processes to be clearly simulated," explains Felix Witzelmaier from Business Development at fischertechnik. "In addition, all processes can be represented with a digital twin."
With its offering, the AWS Builder Studio provides companies with a low-threshold introduction to future-proof technologies. With its immersive showrooms, innovative technology demonstrations and practical workshops, the innovation hub helps customers to drive forward the development of industry-specific solutions and utilize new technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Managers, engineers and software developers have the opportunity to design and optimize products and processes in the digital space.
Second of its kind
Only when a customer is convinced of a solution can they start to develop a real prototype from the digital one. In this way, innovations can be implemented for a manageable investment. The Builder Studio in Melbourne is the second facility of its kind after New York City.
