Licensing possibilities of Moana 2

Ahead of the theatrical release of Moana 2 on November 29, Nigel Cook, Vice President Brand Commercialization & Retail, Disney Consumer Products EMEA, tells Toy World what the sequel means for the toy industry.

Strong demand for Moana

“Given this strong demand for Moana, the upcoming sequel is a natural progression,” said Nigel Cook. “We're looking forward to bringing back fan favorites Moana and Maui, as well as Pua and Hei Hei, and expanding their world with an ensemble of brand new characters and music. The overwhelmingly positive fan response to the sequel announcement and teaser trailer - which reached 178 million views in 24 hours - has reinforced our belief that Moana 2 will be as well received as the first movie and that there are many opportunities in the toy space.”

The successful animated film Moana, which was released in cinemas in 2016, is getting a sequel in November. Set several years after the events of the first film, it shows the titular heroine on another ocean voyage beyond the borders of Oceania. Reunited with the demigod Maui, Moana faces a challenge unlike anything she has ever experienced before.
