Microsoft cuts 1900 jobs

Microsoft is reducing its workforce by around 1,900 jobs. According to a statement from the head of the gaming division, video game publisher Activision Blizzard and Xbox are affected by the job cuts. The cuts correspond to around 9% of the entire Microsoft Gaming Division, which employs around 22,000 people. Mike Ybarra, the president of the subsidiary, is also leaving the company.

Ybarra wrote on X: “I want to thank everyone who is impacted today for their meaningful contributions to their teams, to Blizzard, and to players’ lives. “To the Blizzard community: I also want to let you all know today is my last day at Blizzard.”

The news follows job cuts at several other major companies in the tech sector.
