‘Mischwald’ wins the German Games Award
Using playing cards to create a habitat that is as ecologically perfect as possible - that is the idea behind ‘Mischwald’.
The card game ‘Mischwald’ has been honoured with the German Games Award. The award is regarded as the most important public prize for card and board games in Germany. In ‘Mischwald’, players compete to create an ecologically balanced habitat with collected cards and thus attract forest dwellers.
The winner of the German Games Award is chosen online by the community. The prize is traditionally awarded at the start of SPIEL in Essen. Around 200,000 visitors are expected to attend the world's largest public fair for board games from Thursday to Sunday. 923 exhibitors from 52 nations will be presenting innovations from their games programme.
Mapping nature as realistically as possible
‘Mischwald’ was developed together with experts in order to depict the diverse relationships between living creatures in nature as realistically as possible in the game, the developers explained at the award ceremony.
The award for best children's game went to ‘The Magic Keys’. In this board game, players have to find the right key to open a treasure chest and get their hands on gems.
