Pokémon celebrates outstanding sales and awards in Europe
The Pokémon Company International announced that Pokémon had another outstanding year at retail in 2023. Sales figures in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) and Pokémon toy segments increased across Europe.
According to Circana, Pokémon maintained its No. 1 position in France, Belgium and the Netherlands and reached its highest annual position to date in the UK, Germany and Italy.
Ongoing success
Pokémon was once again the No. 1 Circana toy brand in France. For the third year in a row, sales were almost twice as high as those of the second-placed brand with 6 percent growth compared to the previous year. Pokémon was the best performing brand in the top 15 and had five items in the top 20 toys of the year.
Best ever annual ranking
Pokémon achieved its best ever annual ranking in Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy in 2023. In Germany, Pokémon was in second place (previously fourth place) with growth of 38%, was the top 15 brand in terms of sales and had five products in the top 50 best-selling toys of the year. In the United Kingdom, Pokémon was in second place (previously fourth place) with growth of 14 percent, the second-highest increase among the top 15 brands. In Italy, Pokémon ranked 3rd (previously 4th), with a remarkable 68% year-on-year increase - the second highest growth among the Top 15 brands.
Number 1 in Belgium and the Netherlands
Pokémon was again number 1 in both Belgium and the Netherlands, with four products in the top 50 of the year in the latter country.
This incredible growth was recognized by Circana, which presented Pokémon with three major awards at Europe's largest toy fair in Germany. The brand won the "Global Top Toy Property of the Year", "Europe's Top Gaining Property Total Toys" and "Europe's Top Gaining Property Games & Puzzles" awards.
