TTGDA and Barnes & Noble enhance tabletop game listings with game designer credits

Barnes & Noble, a leader in book and game retailing, and the Tabletop Game Designers Association (TTGDA), a professional organization for game designers, are excited to announce a new feature that will revolutionize the way enthusiasts discover and appreciate their favorite titles. Starting today, game listings on the Barnes & Noble website will include the names of the game designers who brought these incredible experiences to life.

Recognizing the Creators Behind the Games

At TTGDA and Barnes & Noble, we believe that the creative minds behind tabletop games deserve recognition for their hard work and innovation. By including game designer credits in the listings, we aim to highlight the individuals who contribute to the magic of gaming. This new feature will provide enthusiasts with deeper insights into the creative process and foster a greater appreciation for the artistry involved in game development.

“Barnes & Noble highlights book authors and musical artists on the listings for their creative works,” said Geoff Engelstein, President of TTGDA. “We believe that game designers also deserve recognition for the creativity and hard work required to bring a game to life.”

Alan Moon, designer of the mega-hit Ticket to Ride, agrees. “When people fall in love with a novel, they naturally want to read other books by the same author. I’m glad that Barnes & Noble is making it easy for Ticket to Ride fans to find more of my designs. Barnes & Noble has always been a leader, and I am glad to see they remain at the forefront with their support and recognition of game designers.”

A Step Towards Greater Transparency and Appreciation

“Tabletop gamers are always eager to learn more about the people who create the games they love,” said Sabrina Falcone, Senior Merchandise Manager at Barnes & Noble. “When TTGDA approached us about adding designers to our site, it immediately made sense to us. By adding game designer credits to our listings, we are not only enhancing the shopping experience but also helping our customers connect with designers in the gaming community.”

How It Works

Visitors to the Barnes & Noble website will see the names of game designers prominently displayed alongside game titles. TTGDA is using the resources at the BoardGameGeek website to assist Barnes & Noble in the ongoing process of adding designers to their large catalog of games, enabling this information to be available for both new releases and existing games.

Join Us in Celebrating Game Designers

We invite all tabletop gamers and industry professionals to explore the updated game listings and join us in celebrating the talented individuals who make gaming possible. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to enhance the Barnes & Noble platform and support the gaming community.
