World-famous Golden Demon painting competition to take place in Europe at SPIEL Essen

SPIEL Essen is proud to announce that the next European edition of the world's greatest miniatures painting competition - the Golden Demon - will take place at the world's largest visitor fair for board games, SPIEL Essen. Painters from all over the world can enter their painted Warhammer miniatures in this long-running competition and compete for the title in various categories. The competition and award ceremony will take place during the trade fair from October 3 to October 6, 2024 in Essen.

Prestigious award

Together with Game Workshop, the organizer of the traditional competition, a special area at SPIEL Essen will highlight and present the work of the talented painters. This prestigious award will make the already strong miniatures and painting area at the games fair even more interesting for fans. "We are thrilled that the Golden Demon in Europe is taking place at SPIEL this year," says Carol Rapp, Managing Director of Merz Verlag, which organizes SPIEL. Tradition since 1987

The Golden Demon is a miniatures painting competition that has been held in the UK since 1987 and is organized by Games Workshop, the makers of Warhammer. Painters can submit their painted miniatures in various categories and compete against each other. A panel of expert judges will decide the winners of each category, who will be given the honor of receiving the legendary Slayer Sword.
