YouGov study shows desire for more safety in the workplace
According to a new report by U.K. Retail Worker Safety Report by Motorola Solutions, one in four retail workers in the U.K. are considering resigning over concerns for personal safety over the Christmas period
The survey of more than 1,000 retail workers reveals the extent of theft, organized crime and violence in high street stores across the country.
Safety technologies help to feel safer at work
The market research company YouGov surveyed employees in stores in October 2024 about their personal feelings on the topic of safety and their assessment of safety measures in the workplace. A key finding of the study: the majority of respondents believe that safety technologies help them to feel safer at work. This primarily includes panic buttons, which employees can use to ask colleagues for support, as well as wireless solutions that ensure a quick exchange with superiors. Locking doors and the availability of real-time video footage from the sales floor for early detection of incidents are also among the solutions mentioned. Motorola Solutions has collected similar data in the US, Australia and New Zealand, which are also affected by high retail crime rates.
The most important results of the survey can be found in the source description.
