Every region is proud of its culinary specialities. Most trade fair visitors probably associate Nuremberg gingerbread and the "3 im Weggla" with Nuremberg. But the Nuremberg red beer and the diverse gastronomic landscape also attract participants to the city after a day at the fair.

Highlights of the ToyCity

DB Museum

Founded back in 1882, today's DB Museum is the oldest railroad museum in the world. At the heart of the museum is an interactive exhibition on the history of the railroad in Germany. On two floors, visitors embark on a journey through more than 200 years of railroad history. The original vehicles are a real crowd-puller. Around 40 legends of the rails await museum visitors in two halls, including a replica of the "Adler", Germany's first locomotive. Another highlight is the Modellarium with over 2,000 models in various scales and the historic model railway layout from the 1960s.

Nuremberg Toy Museum

Nuremberg has been the toy city since the Middle Ages. There were toy companies in the small streets of Nuremberg's old town and in almost all parts of the city: hundreds! Wooden toys, tin figures, doll kitchens, shops and especially tin toys were manufactured in Nuremberg. Today Nuremberg is home to the world's largest international toy fair. The toy museum shows old toy treasures and new world toys on an area of ​​1,400 square meters: Lego, Barbie, Playmobil, Matchbox. In summer, the outdoor museum playground and the museum café in the inner courtyard attract visitors.

German games archive in Nuremberg

Nuremberg has accommodated Europe’s biggest treasure chest of games, the German games archive, since it moved in May 2010. The collection contains over 30,000 games, a library with some 7,000 volumes and the legacy of famous game designers like Alex Randolph and Peter Pallat.

New Museum Nuremberg

A breathtaking presentation of art and design - the Neues Museum in Nuremberg will amaze you. On over 3000 m² of collection and exhibition space, the state museum of the Free State of Bavaria presents art and design from the 1950s to the present day. Painting, sculpture, photography, video art and installations are closely linked to international design exhibits in a unique way and are framed by extraordinary architecture. Designed by architect Volker Staab, the museum, which opened in 2000, presents itself as an outstanding contemporary building with urban flair in the heart of Nuremberg's old town.

Lorenz Church

The Lorenzkirche in Nuremberg is one of the most beautiful works of Gothic architecture in Germany. Toy collection at Germanisches Nationalmuseum

The toy collection in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum includes about 20,000 objects. The centerpiece of the collection comprises the four large Nuremberg dolls’ houses from the 17th century and the unique collection of historical paper theatres. The museum also possesses boy’s and girl’s toys, optical toys and toys from the age of reform in the early 20th century.
